Fitness & Sports Month


May is National Health & Fitness Month!

Come out and compete in various sporting competitions, classes, and specials throughout the month! Don't miss out on attending events that could win you a gift card! 

Lazyman Triathlon
May 1 - 31

Participants have the entire month of May to complete a full-distance Ironman Triathlon.
Swim: 2.4 miles  -  Bike: 112 miles  -  Run/walk: 26.2 miles

This activity is self-reported; tracking sheets can be picked up and turned into the Dodge Fitness Center front desk. Participants are encouraged to submit their progress weekly; a leaderboard will be updated every Friday in May.

Finishers will be entered into a $50 gift card door prize drawing. 


Yoga on the Lawn
Wednesday, May 1

Join us at Turtle Pond on Wednesday, May 1 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. for Yoga on the Lawn!

Bring your mat and enjoy a free yoga class on the lawn. This FREE class is low-impact and perfect for all levels.
It is open to all ages and anyone with base access. There are limited yoga mats available for use.
No registration is required.


Jones Cup Golf Tournament
Saturday, May 4

Register to compete in the Courses at Wright-Patt's annual Jones Cup Tournament on Saturday, May 4, at the Twin Base Golf Course.

Check-in is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
The entry fee is $25 which includes lunch and prizes but does not include green fees or cart fees.

Registration is required and must be made by May 3 at noon by calling the Twin Base Golf Course at (937) 257 - 4130.


Bench Press Challenge
Monday, May 6 & Wednesday, May 8

Participants will compete for maximum repetitions per designated percentage of body weight. Weigh-in includes clothing/shoes.

Competition participation is available at Jarvis Fitness Center on May 6 & 8 from 6 - 8 a.m. and 3 - 5 p.m.
A prize will be awarded to the top male and female performers.
Registration is not required.

2v2 Pickleball Tournament
Thursday, May 9

Sign up for the Doubles Single-Elimination Pickleball Tournament at Dodge Fitness Center on May 9 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.

This tournament will consist of a 12-team bracket.
A prize will be awarded to the winning duo!

Registration is required and can be made here.


60-Second Air Bike Challenge
Monday, May 13 & Wednesday, May 15

Participants will compete to burn maximum calories in 60 seconds! 

Competition participation is available at Dodge Fitness Center on May 13 & 15 from 6 - 8 a.m. and 3 - 5 p.m.
A prize will be awarded to the top male and female performers.
Registration is not required. 


4v4 Sand Volleyball Tournament
Thursday, May 16

Grab your team and sign up to compete in the 4v4 Sand Volleyball Tournament at the Jarvis Outdoor Sand Volleyball Courts on May 16 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.

This tournament will consist of an 8-team bracket.
A prize will be awarded to the winning team!

Registration is required and can be made here.


Adult Tennis Clinic
Tuesday, May 21

On Tuesday, May 21 from 5 -  6:30 pm, participate in the FREE Adult Tennis Clinic at the Dodge Fitness Center Tennis Courts.

At this clinic, a certified tennis instructor will teach you the fundamentals of tennis including how to hold a racket and basic stroke techniques. 
If you don't have a racket, you can call the Wright-Patt Tennis Club to get a loaner.
This class is open to adults and non-tennis members.
Pre-registration is not required however, it is encouraged and can be made by calling the Tennis Club at (937) 257-7248.


Eat & Exercise with Bowling
Wednesday, May 22

Take a little break on May 22 and head over to Kittyhawk Lanes for their Eat & Exercise Special from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Enjoy 2 games of bowling, shoe rental, and a $4 food credit just for only $12.95/person.

Participants will be entered into a $50 gift card door prize drawing.


The Murph Challenge 
Friday, May 24 - Tuesday, May 28

In honor of Lt. Michael Murphy and all fallen service members, push yourself to complete the Murph Challenge:
1 Mile Run  /  100 Pull Ups  /  200 Push Ups  /  300 Body Weight Air Squats  /  1 Mile Run
The workout must start and end with a mile run but the  pull up, push up, & squat repetitions may be partitioned. Activity is self-reported. Tracking sheets can be picked up and turned in at the front desk of any Wright-Patt Fitness Centers.
*Weight vest is not required. This physical challenge is not recommended for beginner exercisers.

Finishers will be entered into a $50 gift card door prize drawing.


Special Bootcamp Class
Tuesday, May 28

The final event of Fitness & Sports Month will be a special Bootcamp Class in honoring and acknowledging service member A1C William H. Pitsenbarger.
Join us on the Wright Field Fitness Center Basketball Courts on May 28 from 5 - 6 p.m. 
Registration is not required however, there is a maximum of 50 participants.

Participants will be entered into a $25 gift card door prize drawing. 


Fitness & Sports Month is open to all U.S. Military, DoD Civilians, Adult Dependents, & Retirees.
